About Me

Garot Michael has been a BMI affiliated artist, composer and publisher for nearly 20 years. A music interest begining in the early 80's, Garot Michael continued his growing interest in the trumpet and music throughout his highschool career and following graduation moved to NYC to take his first shot at the big time. In his short year in NYC Garot Michael was signed to the Hangman Records label, released 2 International singles, and founded Bifocal Publishing, a BMI affiliated music publishing company. In the coming years Garot Michael moved to Boston during which time, Garot learned a great deal about the business of music, publishing and international licensing. These recordings represent Garot Michael's first foray into the jazz genre as a solo Artist. When heard, a comparision is often made to the late Chet Baker who was also a ballad fanatic. The outstanding nature of this collection is in its melodic phrasing. Uniting contagious melodies with innate jazz non-conformist improvisation instantly makes each composition identifiable and memorable. Recorded live, this collection has a totally organic and random vibe just as if you were listening from the audience of a supper club. To his credit, Garot Michael's compositions were featured on the MTV Real World/Road Rules Inferno Challenge during it's 2005-06 season and have been available worldwide through digital licensing and distribution. In the next few months we will be striving to form a complete ensemble for live performance and record a complete album of mellow jazz cuts including those on this site and possibly some jazz standards.
