Farah Siraj
“The Norah Jones of the Middle East”
About Me
Dubbed “the Norah Jones of the Middle East,” Jordanian virtuoso Farah Siraj launches her
latest project in New York, The Arabian Jazz Project, in collaboration with award-winning
pianist and arranger, Victor Gutierrez.
Siraj leads an ethnically diverse quintet based in New York. With Farah Siraj from Jordan,
Victor Gutierrez from Spain, Matt Geraghty from the United States, George Mel from Georgia
and Kinan Idnawi from Syria, the project is a cultural melting pot where Middle Eastern
rhythms and melodies blend naturally with Jazz and Western Harmonies. Recorded in New
York City with Grammy Award-winning Jeremy Loucas as co-producer, the project blends the
best essences of both worlds. Original compositions and traditional folk tunes deliver a
powerful message of love, peace and understanding between cultures.
Farah has recently been named Jordan´s “Musical Ambassadress”, and has performed at some
of the world's most prestigious platforms, including the Nobel Prize Hall of Oslo, Norway, the
World Economic Forum, the Antena de Oro Awards of Spain, Good Morning Live Show in the
USA, representing Jordan on UN International Peace Day in the USA and the inauguration of
Mediterranean Week at Barcelona's City Hall. Her music has been played before the United
Nations Security Council before passing a legislation regarding the genocide in Darfur. Farah's
music has played on radio stations in the Middle East, Europe and over 114 radio stations in
the United States.
