My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...my dad made sure that as a kid, I got exposure to the jazz greats like Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Clark Terry, and more by taking me to their concerts before they died. I was first exposed to jazz...in grade school. I met Danny Carey (drummer for Tool) in 1978 in college. We recorded and performed together for over a year before we both left UMKC Conservatory of Music. The best show I ever attended was... The first jazz record I bought was... My advice to new listeners...Keep an open mind when listening to jazz. There are many, many flavors of this great genre, and all of them contribute goodness to the world. Or whatever else you have in mind.
