My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz at home: my parents played recordings of Nina Simone, Bix Beiderbecke, Ella, Satchmo, and many other greats. We also had a good supply of blues: Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Mamie Smith, Josephine Baker, Ethel Waters... I love classical music, too, especially Bach, Monteverdi, late Verdi operas, 2nd Viennese School, Sibelius, and many others.
