Alan Hall is a long time drummer, composer, teacher and bandleader.
About Me
Currently the composer and leader for the (quartet - nonet sized) Asheville Jazz Collective. Ten has performed and/or recorded with: Kai Eckhardt, Paul Hanson, Art Lande, Geoffrey Keener, Lee Konitz, Paul McCandless, Rebecca Parris, Ed Simon, Kenny Washington, among many others. He is a former Berklee College of Music professor and has articles published in DownBeat and Percussive Notes.
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz when I
watched Sal Mineo as Gene Krupa
on "The Gene Krupa Story." How
cool was Sal Mineo as Gene
Krupa? That's how I wanted to be,
and so, I went for it. Creative music
has since become a deep part life.
