About the Album

The album Země is dedicated to the planet Earth. There are nine songs. Some of them are related to concrete stories or mind pictures. Soukup borrows the word ‘Shikara’ from the Salman Rushdie classic, Midnight’s Children, as the title for a short poem about small colorful boats on Indian lakes. The track is lifted up by a guest appearance of Benin-raised jazz guitarist Lionel Loueke. Země is the third album of the Copenhagen based band Luboš Soukup Quartet.
