About the Album
The anthemic, melody-rich "Cloud Break" is the first track from rising Canadian composer Daniel Hersog's first big-band recording "Night Devoid of Stars," out June 12, 2020 via Cellar Music. Featuring star soloists saxophonist Noah Preminger and pianist Frank Carlberg, the album showcases Hersog’s 16-piece Vancouver-based Daniel Hersog Jazz Orchestra in the leader’s richly melodic originals, plus an inventive, deep-blue arrangement of “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.”
