George Cartwright, saxophonist and composer has been performing composed and improvised music for over 20 years. His band Curlew , has a new cd on Cuneiform Records called "Meet The Curlews!" with Davey Williams, Chris Parker, Bruce Golden and Fred Chalenor to be released Jan 29th.

After a wonderful stint at Karl Berger's Creative Music studio in Woodstock , NY George moved to NYC just in time for the advent of "punk jazz" and the ferment of the East Village/Lower East Side . Work with various people followed, such as Daveid Allen's New York gong,David Thomas, Orrnette Coleman, Material, Polly Bradfield, George Lewis, Kip Hanrahan and many others. Two decades of uncompromising performances, recordings and composition have followed. With more to come. Promise.
