From June of this year, this is a show that features a varied selection of large jazz ensembles that delve into traditional and contemporary styles and sometimes even travel to the outer reaches of this music. Bandleaders and arrangers heard on the program include Gerald Wilson, Christine Jensen, Sun Ra, Bob Crosby, and Maria Schneider. There is also a mini-tribute to the then-recently deceased Astrud Gilberto.
