Born: August 3, 1965

Dale Denise McClenton, A.K.A. Lady Dale is a native of Philadelphia, PA and has been singing since childhood. A classically trained vocalist, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Bennett College; an Historically Black College for women in Greensboro, North Carolina. While studying at Bennett College she was under the leadership of Dr. Gloria Dean Randle Scott, the 12th president of the institution. Lady Dale also earned a Masters of Education Degree from Cheyney University. Lady Dale uses her education and musical talents to serve a multitude of purposes. She has studied vocal techniques with The Singer’s Workshop, (under the direction of Devonne Gardner) and she was a member of the prestigious Paul Roberts Singers. In addition, she is studying Jazz vocal techniques under the direction of Mr. Morris “Mo” Bailey and participates in the Barry Harris vocal workshop series in New York City, where she is studying ear-training, improvisation, and theory.

Lady Dale understands the importance of sharing her musical talent with those who have an appreciation for the arts. In the spirit of intergenerational transfer, she has donated her time on Saturdays as a vocal instructor at the Mt. Airy Cultural Center (under the direction of Tony Williams). A versatile musician, Lady Dale has made a profound impact at local performances. She has performed at numerous popular venues such as: The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, The Mann Music Center (in the play Porgy and Bess, as a chorus member, under the direction of the renown Bobby McFerrin and The Philadelphia Orchestra), Zanzibar Blue, The Tony Williams Scholarship Jazz Festival, The West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, just to name a few. Lady Dale has also performed with some of Philadelphia’s greatest renowned musicians such as: Robert “Bootsie” Barnes (her mentor), Anthony “Tony” Williams, the late Eddie Green, Tommy Ryan, Webb Thomas, Jim Dragoni, Sam Reed, Alfie Pollitt and the list goes on… Lady Dale has developed an exciting repertoire and style of music. She brings the house down. She also makes a strong and positive musical impact upon the students at Harambee Institute, serving as a Special Education Teacher and performing at assemblies and graduations.

Press Quotes

”You don't have to take your clothes off to sing a song.”
