Mark Sheldon: Jam Session
Mark has enjoyed and appreciated the art of photography for over 25 years. He received his first camera as a teenager and through trial and error has taught himself the technical aspects of photography. Mark has acquired the art of viewing the world from behind the lens, always attempting to capture a memorable moment in time.

Mark began his career as a professional photographer working in the advertising field, as well as photographing professional sports such as NFL football and many PGA events. His work has been published in numerous publications. Mark has always had a great passion for music and enjoys capturing the spirit of the musician he is photographing. His early work was primarily of rock legends, but after being introduced to the intriguing world of jazz, his art has evolved to what you see today.

Being born and raised in Indianapolis, has given Mark a unique opportunity to appreciate the rich legacy of some of the great jazz musicians that have shared his city, such as J.J Johnson, Freddie Hubbard and Wes Montgomery, to name a few. Mark has enjoyed combining his love of photography with his love for jazz music.

Mark can often be found taking in the local jazz scene or the major clubs around Chicago and St. Louis. Each year, Mark looks forward to photographing the Indianapolis and Chicago Jazz Festivals, as well as many other smaller events. He is a member of the Jazz Journalist Association, as well as the International Association of Jazz Educators. For more information or comments, please contact Mark at Msheldonf32@aol.com.
