Photographer Profile
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2003 by Dino Perrucci

Jazzfest Archives is an online art exhibit dedicated to sharing the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival experience through the photography of Dino Perrucci. The scale of Dino's photography (during the 2003 Jazz Festival, he photographed 97 different live music performances) reflects the scale of the festival itself. Each year, thousands of musicians and festival-goers make the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival an unforgettable event. Dino's photography captures the sights, sounds, and emotions that make up Jazzfest. Bring that experience home with limited edition prints of any photo found on the site.

Why an online exhibit?
Due to the scale of the Jazzfest Archives exhibit (there are over 1,300 photos to view!), a physical gallery space would be hard-pressed to showcase all our images. An online gallery allows our visitors to browse the exhibit in a manner of their own choosing and easily purchase limited edition prints of any photo they find. The photos can be viewed by date, by artist or band, by location, or randomly. Our guests are free to create a custom viewing experience each time they visit the gallery.

About Dino Perrucci
"I remember coming home from my first concert, Def Leppard at the Nassau Coliseum, and thinking how can I relive that experience?" says Dino Perrucci. "I was hooked from the very beginning, the sounds, the sites, the smells. So, for my second show, Judas Priest at Nassau, I borrowed my mother's camera and took my first concert photos. That was 1984." Nineteen years later, Dino is still at it.

Dino's first professional exposure came when his photos were featured in Indigo Girls Tour and Song Books. "It still didn't dawn on me at that point to make a career of it. To this day I still guard myself against letting my life's passion become too much of a job. If it ever stops being fun, I'll put my camera down."

But moving back to New York City in 1996 really turned things around for Dino. "I came back to NYC for a career opportunity, but became completely immersed in the NYC music scene." 1996 was also Dino's first trip to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. "I can't even express the feeling I had that first day at the fairgrounds, I knew that this was the kind of musical experience that really inspired me and my photography."

In subsequent years Dino developed relationships with some of his favorite artists like, Galactic, Medeski Martin & Wood, Soulive and Melvin Sparks. In 2001 he became the House Photographer at the Blue Note and BB King's in NYC. In 2002 he added Tobacco Road. Dino continues to hold these positions today, and continues traveling and photographing inspirational music. In the past year Dino's photography has been featured on CD covers for; Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Soulive, Lettuce and the Melvin Sparks Band; in Rolling Stone, Relix, Drum, Offbeat, Downbeat, Pollstar; and countless posters, flyers and promotional materials. Look for him at a stage near you.
