I'm a jazz enthusiast, writer, Art Director, and illustrator. I attended the High School of Art and Design in New York, where my main focus was to be a cartoonist for Marvel Comics. Although a couple of my classmates did go on to being successful superhero artists, I went on to Illustration. Many of my influences are traditional Illustration masters like Howard Pyle, NC Wyeth, Frank Frazetta, painters like Miro and Jean Michel Basquiat and cartoonists like Neal Adams, John Romita, Jack Cole and the Mexican caricaturist, Ernesto Cabral. I combined my love or artists like these with my passion for jazz and ended up here. I've done illustrations for Jazziz Magazine, Black Issues Magazine, and Gannett Newspapers, among others. I also have a line of greeting cards with Ethnographics, a company out of Texas. I've also written dozens of articles about jazz music (some reprinted at the website www.52ndstreet.com). I've earned my real living as Art Director for Jazz At Lincoln Center for the last three years (personally hired by Mr. Wynton Marsalis himself). My main medium is watercolor, although I dabble in many others. My current obsessions are Illustrator and Photoshop.
