Jazz Impressions in Belgium by Jacky Lepage
Jacky Lepage is a self-taught photographer. Born in 1952, he started to teach himself photography from books around 1976. He began to photograph jazz musicians onstage in 1985, affording him the opportunity to meet some of the greatest musicians in jazz such as Chet Baker, Miles Davis, John Scofield, Chick Corea and many others. He also counts many jazz musicians among his friends in his homeland of Belgium, a small country which includes among its citizens such great jazzmen as Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Aka Moon, and Michel Herr. Many of his photos have been published in numerous magazines and on CD covers and insert booklets in Belgium and throughout the world. He started to teach himself digital imaging in 1999, opening up another world of creative experience and a new direction. He works "freely," driven first by his feelings, and sometimes he doesn't even touch his camera for a while, returning to it later and starting in a new direction. You can send him your comments and opinions about his work at: virtualgallery@pi.be. You can be sure he'll answer you personally.
