Frans Mandigers: Painting to Jazz
Frans Mandigers Frans Mandigers was born in 1957 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Since his childhood, drawing and painting have been daily activities. Not a single day has passed without picking up a pencil or a brush.

His grandfather was a painter who supplemented his income by painting religious themes for churches. The love of music was passed down from his mother's side, as he often drew inspiration while painting from the music of Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly, Elvis and Dave Brubeck.

Frans received a degree in the fine arts and during study became fascinated by expressing action and movement in his work. This fascination is reflected in several of his sports paintings. His work directs him not to teaching at school, but in 1984 he starts working as an illustrator at an advertising-company. Here he develops concentration, speed, all sorts of graphic techniques and styles. In 1986 he becomes a freelance illustrator and works for 15 years in a cooperative freelance studio, together with ten of the best graphic designers and illustrators in the south of The Netherlands. Commercial work is mixed with model-drawing sessions and free work. In those years Frans makes a lot of portraits an paintings, from realistic to abstract styles. In the year 2000 he starts his own Mandigers Art Studio and he works on creative concepts and designs for all kind of companies and on his paintings. His love and fascination for jazz- and blues-music, in combination with his passion for expressing action and movement come forward in his latest work. He takes full advantage of his more than 30 years of experience in techniques, styles and color.

"What moves the musician" getting translated in form and color is the theme in his work.
