I've read that an old French Black & Blue LP from the early 70s
called Chelsea Bridge under the leadership of Ellington trombonist
Booty Wood is now on CD. I'm trying to track it down for another
former Ellingtonian Norris Turney, who appears on the record and
lives in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio (Booty was also from this area).
Tower listed it and never could come up with it. Any ideas where I
might find it?
Dave:
Cadence/North Country Distributors has it listed in their current
catalog, they charge an additional $3 if you are not a subscriber
to their magazine. Visit them at www.cadencebuilding.com. Sounds
like something I need to pick up, too!
Incidentally, Planet Music (www.planetmusic.es) has a number of
Black & Blue CDs for around $9 including shipping from Spain, though
not the title you're seeking. It looks like Black & Blue may have
ceased operations, so don't tary....

Found Fletcher Henderson's Sextet 1950 (Alamac QSR 2444--if those are
real) in the bargain bin cassettes at the local carwash. Apparently
from a radio broadcast at a hotel (the name of which escapes me).
Tracks include C Jam Blues, Anything You Want, Rose room, Minerva,
Soft Winds Three Buckets of Jive, I found A New Baby, Sometime's I'm
Happy, Star Dust and Chartreuse. No other inof given. Any idea who's
playing on it?
Phil:
This was probably Henderson's last performance before the stroke
a few days later that ended his career. Alamac was a budget label
specializing in arichecks and old transcriptions; though it has
been out of business for around 20 years, music which has appeared
on it has been reissued on CDs occasionally by labels like Forlane
and the like.
The musicians include: Eddie Barefield on clarinet, Dick Vance on
trumpet and Lucky Thompson on tenor sax, in addition to the leader
on piano.

I'm looking for Philology CDs of Paul Desmond. I have one CD,
Sweet Paul (Philology 72.2) and it's labeled Volume 1. Are there
other volumes? If so, where can I find them?
Robert:
The CD you have is a bootleg with 6 tracks by the Dave Brubeck
Quartet recorded during their 1958 tour of Europe, plus 2 early tracks
from a date featuring Desmond with the Jack Sheedy Sextet. So far,
no further volumes have turned up, though they're a lot of bootleg
tapes of the Dave Brubeck Quartet circulating, so "One never knows..."

I've been trying to find Duke Pearson's Blue Note album The Phantom.
Where can I find it or has it been reissued on CD?
Rep 18:
Sorry, but Duke Pearson's The Phantom has not been reissued on
CD up to now.

Do you have any information about Barbara Morrison? She has a beautiful
Ella-type voice. She just played in San Diego. I'd like to know more about
her discography.
Michael:
She has released 5 CDs as a leader or featured artist: Doin' All Right
(Mons); I'm Gettin' Along All Right, I Know How to Do It, Visit Me (All on
Chartmaker); and Ooh Shoobie Dooh (J & T). The veteran jazz educator has
also written liner notes and produced several CDs, and made guest appearances
on CDs by Johnny Otis, Jimmy Smith, Doc Severinson, & Thilo Berg. All of the
CDs should be relatively easy to find.

I'm looking for a McCoy Tyner Trio album, Infinity, featuring Michael Brecker.
All I know is that it came out in the sixties. I need it to find it on vinyl.
TTK17M:
Sorry, TTK17, but McCoy Tyner's Infinity was recorded and released in 1995.
Although some labels have put out occasional LPs in new quantities, this isn't
one of them.
