Here's my desert island 10:
- Andrew Hill -- "Judgement!" (Blue Note)
- Jackie McLean -- "Action" (Blue Note)
- John Coltrane -- "Coltrane" (Impulse)
- Grant Green -- "Matador" (Blue Note)
- Larry Young -- "Unity" (Blue Note)
- Grachan Moncur III -- "Evolution" (Blue Note)
- Joe Henderson -- "If You're Not Part of the Solution, You're Part of the Problem: Live at the Lighthouse" (Milestone)
- Bill Evans -- "Sunday at the Village Vanguard/Waltz for Debbie" (Riverside)
- Herbie Nichols -- "The Complete Blue Note Recordings"
- Sam Rivers -- "Contours" (Blue Note)
It's hard to get it down to ten. Sonny Clark's Trio Lp on Time/Bainbridge was
a close runner-up, as was Lee Morgan's "Search for the New Land." On any
given day, "Idle Moments," "Solid," "Talkin' About," or "Street of Dreams"
could unseat "Matador" in the Grant Green slot, and "A Love Supreme" or
"Crescent" could fill the Coltrane slot.
