AIR
Bringing you the finest sounds from the Nu-Skool of Breakbeat. Line-up: Ali B, Dan & Jon Kahuna (Kahuna Kuts) & Pete Herbert(Atlas) Mikkel Tosgsverd & Marlon Celestine are joined by DJ Orange(Blueprint). Date -- 3/4/98

FOREIGN EXPOSURE LAUNCH PARTY- MOSCOW PRESENTS "ZHAR"
Taking place on a bi-monthly rotation with Intro.: Expo, Foreign Exposure 98' expands on lasts year's series of gigs, showcasing artists and musicians from abroad whose musical agenda reflects that of the Blue Not. This month, Foreign Exposure kicks off with a night of musical entertainment from Russia... with love- "ZHAR"... For the first time ever the pioneers of the Moscow club scene will make an exclusive appearance at The Blue Note, bringing over cultural elements from a burgeoning scene. In association with 'Ptuch Magazine' expect the unexpected in cultural vibes, music and style, profiling the Electronica of the day, with a live performance by Outremer (Solar X). Line-up: Django (Ptuch), Sanches, Kompass, Alex Knight (Fatcat Records) and Zorkin. Date -- 10/4/98

WISDOM
Connecting through the medium of sound, Wisdom mounts a sonic assault on your senses with learned travellers of time serving up their knowledge, hitting you with the extremes of break beat culture. Line-up: Charlie Dark (Attica Blues) DJ Curry, Krash Slaughta (Wall of Sound) Mark One (Grand Central) Darren Watts (Free Radicals) Richie P, Matty Smooth and Rob Mac. Date -- 17/4/98

MAGIC BUS
Acid Jazz's Magic Bus has been on the road for 6 years now. On two decks the Magic bus residents, Eddie Piller (GLR), James Prentice (Acid Jazz), Ali B (Blueprint), P45 (Blow Up), DJ Crispin (Straight No Chaser) and Djs from Dusseldorfs' Unique Club takes us on the last trip through crushing beats, dirty Funk, deep New Soul, Drum 'n' Bass, fresh, froward jazz, Hip Hop, Downbeat & other, as yet unnamed stykes, with special guests Paul Murphy (Purple Hearts) and Torino with a live set. Magic is history in progress, so all aboard for your very last ride. Date -- 24/4/98

LIFT
Spinning a selection of Garage, Boogie, funky House and smooth Disco with a leaning towards the Soulful. The underground selection: old and new skool rootsy grooves, from Dub/Reggae to R&B and Funk. Line-up: Dr Bob Jones & Damon Havlin, Harri (Sub Club/Plastic People), Earl Gateshead (The Dive Bar) & Catfish. Date -- 4/4/98

GALAKTIC SOUND LAB
The Galaktic Soundlab is the window through which we can look to catch some fresh inspiration from our new Swiss friends. Each month, the Galaktics reach out to invite musically like-minded artists from all over Europe to expose their sound and inject an alternative influence to London... new people, new styles. Line-up: Rollercone & Le Gooster (Swiss DMC champ) NYA, DJ Pete Lawrence (Big Chill) Erik Truffaz Quartet. Date -- 11/4/98

ATHLETICO
One of the Blue Note's longest running clubs. The Athletico crew of Alex Sparrow, Kirstie McAra and Simon Fathead broke through the pure House scene in their native Birmingham and after 2 years of going against the grain they stand by their no rules' music policy, keeping it varied not purist, incorporating rather than alienating. This month's special quests; The Soundclash crew make a trip down from Leeds to present a live set by Overseer and Djing from Moose. Date -- 18/4/98

EXTRAORDINARY SENSATIONS
Spoil yourself on this new Saturday monthly with a non-stop esoteric rollercoaster ride through the roots of the modscene. The Modernism continues busting maximum R&B grooves, Blue Beat stompers, flighty 45's and all the pure blue-black Soul music you can shimmy to. Line-up: Eddie Piller. Gilles Peterson (Talkin' Loud) DJ Pathaan (Swaraj) Ali B and St John De Zilva. Date -- 25/4/98


Sundays

SUNDAY SOUL AFFAIR/ CAPOEIRA
The SSA boys and girls deliver a mass of Rare Groove, Two Step & Nu & Classic Soul cuts to a dedicated congregation who make their weekly pilgrimage to The Blue Note. Expect excellent Caribbean cuisine (no roasts here)! board games & all the Sunday papers. A heavenly way to spend your Sunday! Line-up: Curly CJ, Baby Browning & Stevie Cee. Capoeira could be described as an activity that integrates Brazilian music, movement, theatrics, play martial arts, philosophy and spirituality.

METALHEADZ SUNDAY SESSIONS
The inimitable Goldie and his crew with the sharpest and very darkest in cutting edge Break Beat and Drum 'n' Bass. Be prepared for five hours of the deepest drum 'n' bass! Line-up: Fabio, Grooverider, Jumpin' Jack frost, Kemistry & Storm, Don Scott and Randal. Justice (MC).


Mondays

SWARAJ
Karma Kola for the millennium or boogieing with the global village, the Swaraj night blurs the boundaries between classical and popular, underground and mainstream cultures. Swaraj is about musical experimentation with funk, drum 'n' bass and break beats sitting alongside me. Line-up: Pathann, Bobby Friction, Round Eye & Albino.


Tuesdays

UNAGROOVER
Unagroover have just signed to up 'n' storming fresh new label Freskanova, following in the footsteps of chart-friendly fellow label mates The Freestylers, who are currently slotting them in as their 1998 tour support. With their sexy slabs of dirty Funk and their four-wheel drive bass and beats they already have a cult following in their Midlands homeland and with the London crowd swiftly jumping on the band wagon - Unagroover are set to take The Blue Note by storm. Guest DJ's on the night. Date -- 14/4/98

APRIL RECORDS- ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY
A launch party for the second album by FUTURE titled "STAY WITH..." the Copenhagen trio who have defined Scandinavian Electronica at a stroke, combine sharp beats with that rarest of commodities- tunes! Catch them live and direct for only the second time in the UK. Line-up: PG Jesper, Carl Bojsen-Molle, Paul Thomas (Kiss FM) and Pete Lawrence (The Big Chill).

PLATIPUS
Platipus Records celebrate their 5th Birthday at the Blue Note by launching the new album from Quietman. This duo describe themselves as 2 atoms spinning out of control... and colliding somewhere back in '92. Quietman will be performing some 'Visual Live Painting'. Line-up: Nick Warren. Patrick Read, Frank Gee and Mr Oz.


Wednesdays

EON (EVERYTHING OR NOTHING)
This will be the seventh monthly night for everything or nothing and in keeping with the previous nights they present an attitude free night with the best new music. This month in the basement, a Drum 'n' Bass cocktail is poured. Line-up: DJ Freebase, Randall (Metalheadz), Genotype 9 Renegade Hardware), DJ XS (Rude FM) & Terrorise. Mcing Cheekaboo & Servini (Stoned Monkey), Seb Chew (off Centre). Date -- 15/4/98

METHOD
Once again the Method crew bring you a line up to be proud of. Line-up: Nucleus (Reinforced), Kendal (Rude FM & Tru Playaz), MC Rage and J-Majik (Sow Motion, Metalheadz), DJ Harry and Dick Kurtaine. Date -- 22/4/98

WORLD-WIDE ULTIMATUM RECORDS- END OF TOUR PARTY
After 20 dates in six countries, Carl Cox's World-wide Ultimatum Records European Tour comes to a climatic end at the Blue Note. The night will feature live performances and DJ sets from artists from the Ultimatum crew. Expect to hear jazz, Techno, Electro, Drum 'n' Bass, Future Beats and Funk - something for everyone. Line-up: Shades of Rhythm, Carl Cox, Trevor Rockcliffe (Ultimatum Trax), Craig Walsh (Ultimatum Trax), Jim Masters (Ultimatum B.A.S.E/Open), Adam Freeland (Coastal Breaks/Friction), Justice (Ultimatum Breaks and C-1( Ultimatum Breaks).


Thursdays

ABA-SHANTI-I- PRODIGY OF DUB
House of Roots and The Blue Note present one of the deepest Dub/Reggae nights in the country. On the mighty Aba-Shanti-I sound system, the Prodigy of Dub unleashes a mixture of the finest Dub Reggae and deep Roots, bringing a rocking cosmopolitan crowd together under one House of Roots. Date -- 2/4/98

BLUE NOTE PRESENTS...FREEWHEELIN' FRANKLIN'S BIG BAZUCA DROP
The Blue note present an evening of varied beats. Line-up: Freewheelin' Franklin (Bolshi/Freskanova/Kontraband), Plastic Surgeon (Bolshi), Kontrabass, Aloha Pussycats and Crispin. Date -- 9/4/98

NEWBEATS
New Beats is about exposing new Jazz forms- Drum 'n' Bass, Big Beat, Hip-Hop. Line-up: Johnny Haywood (New Beats Records), Eddie Piller (GLR) DJ Jeb. This month joined by DJ Malachi (Herbaliser) and The Fink (Ninja Tune).

ROCKERS REVENGE
Voted Best Club of '97 by Trace magazine, ROCKERS returns for the killin it's monthly session. With the aim of going back to the original ideology of experimentation and beyond, this is not a night celebrating the old school. Rather, Rockers uses the original template of the NYC Hip-Hop jams to progress the UK B-Girl/Boy movement into the 21st century. This month we welcome NOISE, direct from Copenhagen and winner of the '94 NMS DJ (Deal Real), Prime Cuts (Scratch Perverts) and Cam (Bongo's). Date -- 23/4/98

FOREIGN EXPOSURE- "SUN SOUND SYSTEM"- ALBUM LAUNCH
The Blue Note in association with Sony/Columbia (France) presents the "Sun Sun Sound System"- a showcase of artists, remixers & producers behind the forthcoming 'Sun Sun' compilation album. This international fiesta is a continuous programme of live musicians and Djs. On stage Ski from Galliano, Marque Gilmore (Project 23), Francis Hilton on Bass (and extra percussion) will be blending their sounds with Jazzanova DJs from Berlin and special guest Patrick Forge (Kiss FM/ Da Lata). To crown the night Valerie Etienne (ex Galliano vocalist) will be singing solo with the band. This is a one-off night exclusive to the Blue Note and London as part of Foreign Exposure '98.


The Blue Note is a three floor venue with a musical agenda dedicated to exposing the diverse and innovative. The Blue Note Gallery is based on the first floor and, as an extension of The Blue Note, aims to reflect artistically the clubs musical creativity. Food available Mon-Sat during club hours and Sunday all day. Basement: Dance floor/Bar. Ground floor: Cafe/Club Bar. First floor: Gallery.
