Doom Metal
A genre of metal that fuses sorrow and anger through depressing, introspective lyrics, and slow, dirge-like melodies. The song structures are often complex and the songs themselves long.Vocals can be of the tormented gothic variety, shrill screams, or the growl and/or grunt delivery of death metal. Classical female vocals and choirs often used as well.
Instruments are the usual metal arrangments plus woodwinds (flutes and celtic instruments) and acoustic, stringed instruments (acoustic guitars, harps, etc).
Lyrics are thoughtful, emotional, philosophical, and often mystical and/or spiritual.
