Jesus Music was a music phenomena that spawned from the Jesus Movement revival that happened in the 1960s. It had two fronts, one that started with the Beat Music revolution in Britain in the early 60s, and the second in Southern California in the late 60s.

This musical revolution would sweep the world, ushering in not only the modern church revival of today, but also eventually become what is now called Contemporary Christian Music, with all it's sub-genres.

The Jesus Music era is considered to include any contemporary and rock album with a Christian theme that was released from the early 1960s through 1977, when the term CCM was coined. But most historians extend the period up unto 1980.
