In the early 90's Rich Mullins became unofficially known as Rich Mullins And A Ragamuffin Band. This group of self-described "loose and motley" musicians provided the backdrop for his powerful and worshipful songs.

After Rich's tragic and untimely death in an Illinois car accident on September 19, 1997, the band went on to release his posthumous album 'The Jesus Record'. Since then, A Ragamuffin Band has emerged as a group of their own, with the release of 'Prayers Of A Ragamuffin' in 2000.
