Pete McCann


Pete McCann is the leader and guitarist of his own quartet in New York City. Palmetto Records has just released his debut album Parable. He is a regular guitarist with the following bands: Bobby Previte's "The Horse", Tom Varner Trio, East Down Septet, New York Nonet, Ed Ware's Trio, and Nick Bisesi's Quartet. He has performed with jazz greats Kenny Wheeler, Dave Liebman, Peter Erskine, Randy Brecker, as well as the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Erwin Vann's Worlds project (Brussels), and John Adams' Opera "I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky" (Linclon Center).

McCann received the Ed Casias Memorial Scholarship for three years while attending the University of North Texas, where he graduated cum laude. Among Pete's instructors was jazz guitar pedagogue Jack Peterson. In 1988, he attended the Banff summer jazz workshop where he studied with Dave Holland and Kevin Eubanks. McCann currently teaches at the New School in Manhattan. He is a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and currently lives in New Jersey with his wife and son.
