BYE-YA! The Latin Jazz Quintet

BYE-YA! consists of five extraordinary musicians, all of them well known in the latin - and jazz scene, from Holland and abroad.

Jarmo Hoogendijk (Holland/Finland) is well known in and outside of Europe as one of the best jazz trumpet players. His playing, especially his solos have enchanted jazz and latin lovers all over the world. He can be heard on numerous CD-recordings. Jarmo has worked and works with Nueva Manteca, European Jazz Ensemble, CuBop City Big Band, European Trumpet Summit, Luis van Dijk’s Superband and with names such as Woody Shaw, Clark Terry, Giovanni Hidalgo and many others. His own projects include: Ben van den Dungen/Jarmo Hoogendijk Quintet, Jarmo!

Jens Kerkhoff (Germany) is one of the "first call" percussion players in Holland and Germany and is a masterfull conga player. Because of his diversity he works in the latin - and the jazz circuit and can even be heard on House-CD’s. His ideal is to integrate and use his enormous knowledge of afro-cuban music in other musical styles. He has performed and performs with: Lotz of Music/Shango’s Dance, Nueva Manteca, New Cool Collective, Perla Negra,Rumbatá, Lovecycle feat. Jazmin, Nadja Schubert and many others.

Liber Torriente Mirabal (Cuba) was born in Havana, Cuba and became the drummer of the cuban nr. 1 salsa orchesta NG-La Banda at the early age of18. He has only recently moved to Holland but already has become the most in demand latin-drummer/timbalero. Because of his interest in many other styles like jazz, reggae and pop he is a very broadly evolved musician and one of the most talented drummers in Europe. He plays and has played with: NG-La Banda, Banda PG, Ramón Valle Trio, Rumbatá, La Banda Iré, Bomba Moderna, Bayuba Canta, Laura Fygii and many others.

Mick Paauwe (Holland) is one of top latin bass players in Holland. She is one of the few European bass players who play the baby-bass. Her incredible groove and her good feeling for creating swinging bass lines are the foundation of this band. Mick has worked and works with: La Banda Iré, Gerardo Rosales, Javier Plaza, New Cool Collective Big Band, CuBop City Big Band, Nueva Manteca and many others.

Randal Corsen (Curaçao) was born in Curaçao where he has built up an excellent reputation as a solo pianist. In Holland he is well known as a jazz - and latin piano player who ia a master at combining these two styles. Randal has performed and performs with: Gerardo Rosales Latin Jazz Project, Roy Hargrove, Ronald Snijders, Eric Calmes, Izaline Calister, Denise Jannah and many others. With his own trio, Cross Currents, he was the winner of the international jazz concourse in Breda, in 1997.
