Jeff Pittson was born on August 13, 1953 in San Francisco, California. At the age of 10 he began to study classical piano, eventually under the tutelage of Stewart Brady and Carlo Bussoti. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Band from 1972-76.
Pittson has performed or recorded with the likes of Kenny Garrett, Jack Walrath, Mike Clark, Maynard Ferguson, Joe Henderson, and Larry Coryell, among others. In the Fall of 1998, he served as Director of Jazz Studies at Sonoma State University, where he currently resides on the faculty, teaching piano. Pittson is very active as a clinician and adjudicator for various festivals and competitions up and down the West Coast. He has toured extensively throughout North America and the Caribbean.
