All About Jazz is celebrating its 15th year on the web with a relaunch, making significant changes to our appearance and expanding our advertising services. Please read on for the details.

Improved Banner Placement

Our goal with the recent redesign was to modernize our appearance, elevate the banners so they appear higher on each page, and bring greater awareness to our global calendar of events and our photo gallery. The new website appears less cluttered and the ad positions have been optimized. For instance, we reduced the scrollable length of the home page by 50%, greatly improving the position of the bottom leaderboard, which has led to a higher click through rate. We've also made a point of placing the banners next to valued content. In the case of the bottom leaderboard, it appears directly below the local calendar.

All About Jazz provides several options to reach both jazz consumers and jazz professionals.

Banner. Choose from seven ad locations and run your banner across the site (ROS) or run a local ad campaign and target our readers in your area.

Showcase. Promote a new release for an entire month. Our best value.

Listening Party. Stream a full length album for one week.

Newsletter sponsorship. Reach over 100,000 opt-in readers with our monthly newsletter.


Take advantage of our reach and our Google Page Rank (both tops in jazz), and compliment your ad campaign by leveraging our existing suite of free promotional assets.

Your Company's Profile at AAJ

Make sure your company's information at AAJ is accurate and complete. You can add your Facebook and Twitter links, your RSS feed location, provide company and product information, and use it to drive traffic to your website.

We offer several free promotional opportunities to compliment your ad campaign:

Take Five Self-Directed Q&A: Answer a dozen questions and we'll publish the answers as an article and feature it;



MP3 Download of the Day: Typically generates 2,000 downloads in two weeks. The SF Jazz Collective download generated 1,800 downloads in seven days;



Video of the Day;



Musician Profiles: Updated profiles generate the most interest and the most referral traffic from AAJ;



Contest Giveaways: Advertisers receive priority service, but we'll consider your contest proposal when our schedule allows. Fans enter the contest by becoming a follower of the musician's profile, which is retained for notifications of future releases, tour dates and more;



News Announcement: Leverage our Google page rank and traffic reach to circulate your news;



Photo Gallery: the gallery is one of the most trafficked sections at AAJ. Use it to raise the awareness of your client by uploading publicity photos;



Calendar of Events: we present a local calendar on every page, on our calendar page, on a musician's profile page and on a venue/festival listing page. Soon, dates will appear in AAJ's calendar app.


A musician profile connects related articles, news, videos, MP3 downloads, a bio, photos, a calendar, teaching information, booking information, press quotes, and more. Please encourage your clients to create and update their profile. AAJ musician profiles are a little like Wikipedia in that several individuals can maintain one, so if you need access to your client's profile, simply request it from their profile page by clicking the REQUEST PROFILE ACCESS link under the CONNECT tab in the right column. If your client doesn't have a profile page, then create one here.

We've made dramatic improvements to All About Jazz this year: a new look and more features resulting in increased traffic. With the addition of two advertising representatives, a photo gallery editor, and a Facebook strategist, we'll continue to improve and expand our services. We're also developing technical solutions for the industry and establishing a standard feed format so AAJ can both import and export calendar data. As technologists, AAJ has partnered with other forward-minded companies like EchoNest, ThrillCall, Zoomino, and a revamped AOL Music.
